Cattlemen's Meeting
Author: Jessica James
Planning Unit: Henderson County CES
Major Program: Beef
Plan of Work: Best Practices
Outcome: Intermediate Outcome
The Henderson County Cattlemen's Association has been inactive for a few years and I decided to try and get Cattlemen's meetings going again. This is a great way for beef producers to get together and talk about what practices they may have implemented on their farm. They can discuss things that have worked for them and things that may have not. This is also a great opportunity to have specialists come and speak at the meetings because then they can ask the specialists any questions they may have. The target audience for this is beef producers or anyone that works in the beef industry or even just has an interest. A speaker came from KY Cattlemen's Association to come and speak about what their association offers and gave examples of what other counties are doing. I had a really good turnout for this meeting. They filled out surveys before they left and everyone marked on the survey that they would like to continue the Cattlemen's Association in Henderson County. They also gave me topic ideas that they would be interested in having a specialist come and speak about. Overall, this was a great meeting and we will be continuing the Cattlemen's Association.
