Wanda Joyce Robinson Foundation

I teamed up with the Wanda Joyce Robinson Foundation for a 4-H Leadership and Culinary Workshop, involving fifteen high school participants. Aligned with the foundation's goal of addressing challenges for children affected by parental incarceration, the program spanned six weeks, focusing on instilling leadership skills and practical knowledge in budgeting and cooking for those with limited resources.

The leadership section delved into various leadership styles, allowing participants to identify their unique approaches and gain valuable collaboration skills. This foundational understanding of leadership is crucial for the participants as they navigate both academic and personal aspects of their lives.

Regarding the culinary aspect, the program concentrated on teaching budget management techniques alongside culinary proficiency, featuring recipes like chicken and dumplings, oven-roasted chicken, and chicken quesadilla. These delightful dishes not only pleased their taste buds but also equipped them with invaluable lifelong skills.

Significantly, the extended six-week duration permitted an in-depth exploration of leadership principles and ensured the sustainable development of culinary skills. This timeframe facilitated a deeper understanding and application of the learned concepts, contributing to a more impactful and enduring educational experience for the participants.
