In recent years Boyle County and the surrounding area have seen several farm related injuries. To shine a light on preventing farming related injuries and promoting farm safety, the Boyle County ANR Agent and Horticulture Agent partnered with the Boyle County Farm Bureau Federation to develop an all-inclusive educational program to raise awareness to farm safety with an emphasis in grain bin entrapment and rescue. The educational program was held on August 1st, 2023, at the Boyle County Cooperative Extension Office. The program featured Kentucky Department of Agriculture Safety Administrator. In attendance was numerous first responders from Danville Fire Department, Boyle County Fire Department, Boyle County Sheriff Department, elected officials, high school agriculture teachers, FFA members and many farmers. This first initial educational program will lead to more in later months leading to local first responders receiving training on grain bin entrapment rescue and equipment for these emergences.

On February 10, the Boyle County Cooperative Extension and the Boyle County Farm Bureau Federation hosted a grain bin entrapment training for first responders at Caverndale Farms. Kentucky Department of Agriculture lead the training. First Responders learned rescue techniques and how to use critical, lifesaving equipment. A total of 35 farmers and first responders were in attendance.
