In 2021, the Clark County Extension Office provided a "Pumpkin Day" experience for one of our local elementary school's Kindergarten- second graders, and another elementary school's Kindergarten-4th grade. The program was very successful and the schools were interested in doing it again the following year. In 2022 due to scheduling, we provided the pumpkin day experience to the original elementary school's Kindergarten classes. This year with more planning and availability the Clark County Extension Office was able to provide a pumpkin experience to all 4 public schools' Kindergarten classes. Over two days we saw over 350 Kindergarten students and taught them about pumpkins. Each group rotated through 6 stations including a STEM experiment, pumpkin nutrition, pumpkin dissection, the life cycle of a pumpkin, pumpkin games, and each youth was able to pick a pumpkin to paint and take home with them. Each Agent in our office as well as our nutrition and 4-H program assistants participated in and worked a station for the youth to rotate through. With a very generous donation from a local farmer, we were able to provide free pumpkins to each Kindergartener and the whole experience was free for the schools.
