4-H camp is a program that offers so much in 4 days and 3 nights. Some attendees this may be the first time that they are away from home without a guardian there to help them in their decisions. Campers learn about time management, responsibilities, camp chores, money management and many more. They also learn skills at camp that they may not realize that they had the ability to make accomplish. This program could not happen without teen and adult leaders. This year we recruited 7 volunteers to attend camp.
In 2023 Menifee County 4-H set a record of campers to come to 4-H camp. 60 campers and volunteers went to JM Feltner 4-H Camp. Of the male campers that attended camp 75% of the campers this was the first time to have a positive male role model in their life. Campers and leaders participated in various activities from riflery to fishing. Changes to leader orientation provided trained Junior Counselors and Adult Leaders to handle small issues at camp before major issues occur. In 16 years, it was the best year at 4-H Camp. Here’s to many more to come.
