County Teens Enhancing Skills Through Area Teen Council Efforts

-The problem

Bath County 4-H has historically worked on Teen Leadership Skills through numerous delivery methods like: camping, Wildcat Leadership Council, County Teen Council, and more, but it never has had delegation at Area/District level since the early 2000's.  District One/Area E7/E8 has been need of strengthen its teen involvement from counties.  Bath County Teens need more well rounded 4-H opportunities to grow their skills, involvement, and build their resume.  

-The educational program response

Area Agents has met monthly to discuss and plan an newly formed Area Teen Council.  The Area Teen Council will plan and implement an Area Teen Retreat, Elect Area Officers, work on Leadership Skills, send delegation on to State Teen Council efforts, and more.

Area E7/E8 Teens (8th Grade to 12th Grade Youth)

-Program impact or participant response.

Bath County had two Teens attend the first Area Teen Council Meeting in September.  Bath County has been selected as an meeting location, so it brings youth, agents, and relevance to the efforts.  Currently Area Teen Council and Retreat are being advertised to teens through word of mouth, online, and newsletters.
