The problem- recruiting new member for Magoffin County Homemakers
The educational program response-While conducting our Homemakers membership drive in August, I was contacted by a young lady in our county who wanted to organize a new Homemakers Club. It is rare to have someone actually volunteer to organize a club. After hearing her ideas, we scheduled the first meeting to be held in September at the Extension office, which included a painting class with a local art teacher.
The participants/target audience- The young lady wanted to target young, professional women, who want to make an impact in their community and be actively involved in projects that would lead to personal growth. She shared lots of her ideas for the club, which included many community service projects. Her enthusiasm has been a breath of fresh air for our homemakers program.
Other partners (if applicable)
Program impact or participant response.-As a result of the organization of this club, 25 ladies who have never been a homemaker and many who have never been involved in extension programs, have become members of Magoffin County Homemakers and regularly attend meetings. In addition, they have learned about other extension programs, with which they can be involved. They are meeting now on a monthly basis, with very informative and educational programs.
