Planning Unit: Clinton County CES

Major Program: Community Vitality and Leadership – 4-H Youth Development

Plan of Work: Developing Leadership, Life Decision Making Skills, Increase Financial Planning and Social Responsibility

Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

Youth participants took the leadership initiative to help clean up their community and advocate to other citizens for maintaining a litter free environment for future generations.

The Clinton County High School 4-H Adventure Club saw a need to clean up their community from the large amounts of litter that is distributed along the bypass.  A total of 15 youth participants and 3 volunteers, of different genders and socio-economic backgrounds, worked together to accomplish a common goal for a task that is beneficial to all.  This community project provided the opportunity to build communication and collaboration skills and bridge the gap for youth awareness and appreciation for the strength in numbers and positive outcomes in working with each other.

The Clinton County Judge Executive, Ricky Craig, agreed to partner with the 4-H Adventure Club to donate a financial stipend for each mile that was cleaned along our county designated road route.  Due to their collaboration efforts, the adventure club participants were able to successfully pick up 37 trash bags of litter within Clinton County.
