The Estill County Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Assistant Partnered with the new Oak Tree Sober Living House located in Irvine KY in July 2023, utilizing the new Healthy Choices for Everybody curriculum and recipe samplings from the curriculum. There were five participants, and the focus of the program was to drink less regular soda and learn basic cooking skills. The participants were eager to learn and participate in the lessons and always asked many questions. An interest in budgeting and making shopping lists provided a 100% improvement in making a shopping list before grocery shopping and 60% improvement in budgeting practices. The participants also wanted to focus on drinking less regular soda, with the help of the sober living house each participant was provided a water bottle and an improvement of 80% were drinking less regular soda.
