In the context of increasing rates of obesity, the Mercer County Family & Consumer Sciences agent offered a FREE 10-week program entitled Meltdown Mercer County utilizing the research- and evidence-based curriculum "Weight the Reality Series." Each week a lesson and sample recipe were presented to the participants emphasis practice and behavior change to reach goals related to healthy eating and overall weight management. Eleven adults initiated the program while 8 completed the series; cumulative results included 17 inch loss in waist circumference (AVG 3.4 inches per person), 24.46% body weight reduction (AVG 3.0575% per person), and 46.6 total pounds lost (AVG 5.825 pounds per person).
