Plan of Work: Promoting Health and Wellness from cradle to grave

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

"Research has shown that middle school students who engage in regular physical activity and maintain a balanced diet not only experience improved physical health but also demonstrate enhanced cognitive function, better academic performance, and reduced stress and anxiety levels, highlighting the multifaceted benefits of a healthy lifestyle during this crucial developmental stage."

To help foster this development the Pendleton County Family and Consumer Science Agent partner with the middle school life skills educator to offer a six week healthy lifestyle challenge.

"In just six weeks, we ignited a profound transformation in the lives of 350 middle school students through our 'Healthy Lifestyle Challenge.' This comprehensive program covered a range of essential topics, including the intricacies of a healthy adolescent brain, the impact of beverage choices on our well-being, the dangers of vaping, the importance of nutrition and healthy eating habits, the benefits of regular physical activity, and effective stress reduction techniques.

What set our challenge apart was its hands-on approach. Each session not only provided vital knowledge but also left students with a week-long challenge related to the topic discussed. This approach allowed them to put their newfound knowledge into practice, creating lasting habits and fostering a culture of well-being among our youth. With this initiative, we're shaping healthier, more informed, and resilient generations for the future."
