Sewing has been around for hundreds of years, but has often been said a thing of the past in today’s time. Many people go and buy their clothes, blankets, and other accessories.
After the pandemic more calls and requests are being made for these classes. Knowing this the Henderson County FCS Agent worked with homemakers to put together a beginner quilting class and sewing class.
The classes were set up with 8 participants in the morning class and 6 at night. All participants finished a quilted table runner. Most had never sewn before and were excited to complete a second project.
The beginner sewing classes are now taking place weekly. People who want to attend call the office every week to reserve space and work on their project. One participant is learning to do alterations, one is making hot plates and others are making pillow cases. The hands on classes are so far a success.
