Tree Week is a week celebrating all things tree that happens each October in communities across Kentucky. Extension specialists and agents contribute to Tree Week in many different ways, from organizing events to delivering programs. This year, as in past years, the Forestry and Natural Resources Extension Team organized a webinar series to engage people in a broad range. This series featured seven presentations by a range of speakers addressing common tree questions including:
- Monday Oct 10, 12 pm ET: How Not to Kill a Tree with Amanda Sears and Ellen Crocker
- Monday Oct 10, 2 pm ET: Mushrooms Monday (The Fabulous World of Fungi) with Megan Buland
- Tuesday Oct 11, 12 pm ET: Identifying Kentucky’s Trees with Laurie Thomas
- Wednesday Oct 12, 11am ET: From the Woods Today- Special Tree Week Edition - Why Trees are important in Cities and How to Take Care of Them
- Thursday Oct 13, 10 am ET: Small Trees for Small Spaces with Kelly Jackson
- Thursday Oct 13, 12 pm ET: Maple Syrup with Billy Thomas and Jacob Muller
- Friday Oct 14, 1 pm ET: Invasive Plants and Native Alternatives with Mary Hank and Ellen Crocker
Each webinar had ~20-40 people attend and we look forward to building on the success of this series and offering a new line-up of webinars for Tree Week in 2023.
