4-H Camping program has always been valued in Morgan County, but this years Camping group was put to the test to reach a higher capacity along with an increase in cost. Financially, a lot of families can not afford to send their youth to camp, especially more than one sibling. However, Morgan County 4-H Council and District Board accepted the challenge to help our families. District board provided scholarships for each camper and the 4-H Council fundraised and secured sponsors to ensure money was not the reason youth were staying home.
Morgan County made a goal to exceed expectation numbers set by the state camping program. 4-H agent worked on a promotional plan to implement during school club meetings, videos, and Facebook promotions, while including 4-H Teens during the process.
After long meetings, and several hours of preparation, training and organizing the camping group was able to develop a solid camp program that offered a variety of exciting activities Several of the changes/additions can be attributed to the CAMP in-service. The Morgan County Camp leadership TEAM was the strongest we have had in several years, which can be attributed to the time invested with them and training hours.
All these changes and additions allowed for Morgan County to take our highest number of campers historically. With this being said the groundwork for the 2024 Camping program has already begun to ensure growth continues in the Morgan County 4-H Camping program.
