The cooperative extension service is one thing that all 120 Kentucky counties have in common. In counties across the state extension offices are looked to as a place of information for everything happening in the county and a source of unbiased, researched based information on soil amendments and pesticide information to animal nutrient requirements.

To better help meet the needs of Boyle County producers and landowners while answering their questions. The ANR Agent implemented a testing program for more than just soil. The testing program included tests for: water, hay and forage, plants. This program helps producers and landowners make the best management decisions for their fields, livestock, crops, and natural resources. The ANR Agent did 286 soil samples, eight hay samples, two water samples, one plant tissue sample, four plant disease samples, and three prussic acid and nitrate forage tests.  This testing program has helped producers make better management decisions and help save them money by not over applying fertilizers and by building a Winter-feeding plan using information from hay analysis.

All these tactics aid in creating a better Boyle County with profitable and sustainable farms. The Boyle County Cooperative Extension Office offer hears back from producers and landowners about the results and the value of having these testing option available to them.
