The Parenting Workshops were hosted by the Hickman County Family and Consumer Sciences agent at the Hickman County Extension office in partnership with the Hickman County Public School Family Resource Office.  To allow as many parents and families to attend as possible, four sessions were held to ensure everyone had access to the workshop.  Using the Food Label F-U-Ndamentals program, the goal of the workshops was to ensure parents can read and take away meaningful information concerning the food nutrition labels found on foods to make quick healthy choices for their child or any child they help raise.

Of the fifty-one (51) total participants 25.5% were first time participants in Extension led parenting workshops.  All returned surveys stated a high level of importance on ensuring healthy food and snacks as made available to their families.  62.7% stated that they have an increased level of knowledge on how to effectively use the food nutrition labels.  56.9% stated that they intend to use what they learned during the workshops to make quick and/or easier choices when shopping for food products.  45.1% stated that they gained knowledge on how to quickly and effectively ensure they are buying the best food product using the food nutrition labels.
