Outcome: Initial Outcome
UK’s Center for Crop Diversification developed six co-branded specialty crop profiles for Tennessee’s Center for Profitable Agriculture (CPA) in 2020-2022. As of June 30th, 2023, the CPA’s specialty crop profiles page (https://cpa.tennessee.edu/specialty-crop-profiles/) has received 654 unique pageviews (the number of times the page was viewed at least once) since the first profile was posted in May of 2020. The profiles have been sent to extension agents across Tennessee and distributed to growers at workshops and conferences. The total number of profiles distributed has been Cider Apples in Tennessee: Basic Considerations (530 copies), Culinary Herb Production in Tennessee (818 copies), Cut Flower Production in Tennessee (1,317 copies), Garden Mum Production in Tennessee (740 copies), and High Tunnel Overview (872 copies). Growing and Marketing Mushrooms in Tennessee: Basic Considerations is available on the CPA website but has not yet been printed and distributed. The crop profiles from the CPA-CCD collaboration will provide a strong learning foundation for specialty crop growers who are considering the production of alternative crops and alternative production systems. The project also expands opportunities for marketing success of specialty crops in Tennessee. The CCD's Christy Cassady, Brett Wolff, and contractor Matt Ernst were involved in this project.
