Crop Guidance–Winter Ag Conference 2023

This year our Winter Ag Conference focused on grain markets, sulfur in crop use, disease of crops, and the power of a handshake.  81% of the land in Carlisle County is in row crop production along with 91% in Hickman and 63% in Fulton County.  Farmers must make decisions in time for high yield results.  Crop sales just in Carlisle County is $34,054,000.  The need for new information to share is necessary to our producers.  We teamed up with Adult agriculture educators from WKCTC to bring an informational meeting to the farmers on needed information to producers. The Conference is hosted in Pilot Oak, Kentucky by Lowry Farms. Agriculture agents from Graves, Fulton, Calloway, McCracken, Hickman, and Carlisle County hosted the Winter Agriculture Conference.  The program consisted of Grain Marketing with Alex Hayes, Soybean and Wheat Disease Updates with Carl Bradley, Sulfur Use in Corn and Soybeans with John Grove, and The Power of a Handshake: with Dale Dobson.  Following lunch there was a separate meeting for Dicamba Certification Training with Glen Pendergrass. 167 farmers and several sponsors attended the morning session.  21 product vendors on site provided lunch and door prizes.  81% of producers surveyed found that the value of the content presented by speakers was very valuable while 19% said it was valuable.  97% felt the conference as a whole was relevant to their needs.  100% thought the conference was well organized.  81% of producers strongly agreed and 19 % agreed that the content was related to current needs of the agriculture industry.
