Beginner Beekeeping Program

Outcome: Initial Outcome

The problem

-There were many community members wanting knowledge on how to begin and maintain a bee hive.

- There were 12 community members present at this program.

The educational program response

-The participants learned what tools and equipment they needed to start a hive, the clothing that was suggested, how to care for a hive, the different ways to obtain bees, the process of getting honey, and how to deal with disease in your hive. 

-Participants networked with each other to be able to give each other more information.

- Participants of this program had requested to start/restart a local beekeeping association.

The participants/target audience

-Members of the community that were interested in beginner or continuing raising bees.

-12 participants showed up.

Program impact or participant response.

-There was 75% of the group that had little to no experience with starting and maintaining a bee hive.

-There was 75% of the group that said that they would feel comfortable starting their own hive after attending this program.

- There was 85% of the group that said they were given adequate information and were planning on starting their own hive.

-There was 25% of the group that had previous bee keeping experience .

-There was 25% of the group that had previous bee keeping experience, but also gained new information.

- There was 25% of the group that had previous bee keeping experience and planned on continuing or restarting their hives.
