State Extension Advisory Council Increases Engagement

Author: Kimberly Henken

Planning Unit: Administration - Cooperative Extension Service

Major Program: Community Leadership Development

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

The State Extension Advisory Council provides programmatic input for Kentucky Cooperative Extension, serves as a two-way communications loop for county Extension councils, and serves as ambassadors for Kentucky Extension. During the 2022-2023 program year, the council fully implemented structural changes to align to the regional and area administrative structure and held two-successful in-person meetings. In addition, the council implemented a webinar series to maintain and grow engagement throughout the year. A revamped council orientation was designed and implemented. Several members of the State Extension Council served on administrative hiring and screening committees, providing volunteer leader perspective to the committee process. The council plays an important role in ensuring successful grassroots programs and advanced in their efforts to be engaged, participating Extension leaders.
