Campbell County ANR Agent collaborated with ANR Equine Agents Working Group, Extension Specialists and Associates, and planned the annual Pastures Please! Workshop, Let’s Go Show! Clinic and developed local leadership and community development in partnership with the local Northern Kentucky Horse Network. This was the 16th year for the Pastures Please! Workshop focusing on best management practices as they relate to pastures, forages, nutrition and equine health, in turn making their operations more profitable and sustainable. This was the first annual Let’s Go Show! clinic that covered topics like proper tack for each discipline, ensuring tack fits the horse correctly to prevent lameness and injury to the horse and rider, and information from the judge’s perspective to help riders improve their performance in the show ring. These programs were planned and implemented through the partnership of Cooperative Extension and the Northern Kentucky Horse Network- a group that was started through Extension and mentored by Campbell County ANR Agent in addition to other northern Kentucky ANR agents. This partnership has grown into a team that offers timely information for horse farm managers and owners. The success of these programs is reflected in the consistent attendance at these events of return participants and also a significant amount of first- time attendees. Attendance was over 230 people at the Pastures Please! Workshops and over 62 people at the Let’s Go Show! Clinic. Over 90% of attendees indicate they plan to use the information presented on their farms and increased their knowledge in topics presented. 100% of attendees noted they would return to more equine related programs in the future.
