The problem
- The agricultural community within Perry County's youth had been pushed to the back burner and through our 4-H program I hoped to push that community towards the forefront of what we look to provide for our youth.
The educational program response
-We began by hosting multiple in-school programs that showed youth the opportunities within agriculture and how they are necessary in their everyday lives. These programs included apple tree grafting, chick incubations, and a pollinator program. We also developed a Livestock Club.
The participants/target audience
-Perry County Youth
Other partners (if applicable)
-Perry Central Agriculture Class, Farm Bureau, SEKSPA
Program impact or participant response.
-This increase in opportunity led to us having multiple agricultural entries to the 2023 KY State Fair, compared to last year when we had zero. I hope to continue this increase in participation every year.
