Outcome: Initial Outcome
In the busy world we live in, it can sometimes be difficult for individuals to find the time to attend and participate in classes and events. In response to multiple requests, Recipe Club was started in Barren County. By joining Recipe Club, individuals agreed to receive monthly Plate It Up KY Proud recipe cards that are chosen based on what produce is in season. It was asked that they prepare and evaluate at least one of the recipes each month. Recipe Club packets are mailed out each month and they contain five Plate It Up KY Proud recipe cards. In addition to the recipe cards, participants may also receive a variety of other information in their packet such as the benefits of certain fruits and vegetables and other in season foods.
Of those participating in Recipe Club, 75% reported that they had tried at least one recipe from each monthly packet that they had received. Of that 75%, 100% reported that they enjoyed the recipes that they had made and plan to or have already made them again. Of that same 75%, 100% reported that because of Recipe Club, they had made an increase to their fruit and vegetable consumption.
One participant shared “I like Recipe Club because it comes to me each month. The Recipes that I have tried are very good and I look forward to trying more.”
