The Warren County Extension Service has worked with the Farm and Home Show for 20+ years as a platform for other Extension Agents and Specialists to share research-based information from the University of Kentucky. This educational, 5-minute show shares seasonal topics related to the farm and the home and is broadcast on the WBKO TV Station to residents across the South-Central Kentucky viewing area.
Warren County Extension Agents have produced, edited, and shared daily educational shows on a myriad of subjects from grain, economics, livestock, forestry topics, 4-H projects, nutritional recipes, gardening tips, health, and safety information. The outreach for the Farm and Home Show is 15,000-20,000 each day.
The agriculture agent, hosted, taught, and shared 130 segments. Each segment is worth $3300 in earned media value totaling $429,000.
After the segment is aired on WBKO, it is shared on Warren County Agriculture’s Facebook Page and YouTube Channel. The educational content reached 58,786 on Facebook and received 81,815 views on YouTube in the last twelve months.
We get weekly calls, emails, social media comments, and visits about the content shared on Farm and Home. The show helps the Cooperative Extension Service deliver educational material and spread awareness about our mission and services.
