Over the past three years, we have all learned new ways to connect with people. Even during a global pandemic, businesses found ways to continue to meet the needs of their clientele and families found ways to stay connected without gathering in person. Stepping out of our comfort zones to learn new skills quickly became the new normal.
The pandemic is over, but learning and adapting to new ways to connect to our clientele is still a priority. Agriculture and Natural Resources Extension Agents in Webster, Hopkins and Mclean counties produce podcasts as part of their already existing Tri-County Ag Extension Group programs.
Recognized at both the State and National levels, Kentucky Ag Matters has developed a regular, listening audience who receive weekly, research-based information on a variety of different online hosts. This allows everyone to access this information while commuting to work or while in the field. To date, the show has had over 2,700 downloads.
KY Ag Matters educates and informs our listeners about all things related to agriculture. As of June 29, 2023, we have recorded 68 episodes with a variety of topics geared towards meeting the emerging needs of our clientele. Our guests range from UK Extension Specialists to commodity group leaders, as well as extension agents and law enforcement officers. Our goal is to offer timely, research-based information to the agriculture community in a consistent and reliable way. We now have over 300 monthly listeners across the United States and several foreign countries. KY Ag Matters podcast is a priority program for the Tri-County Ag Extension Group.
Testimonials from listeners include:
1) “I try and listen to all the grain related shows. Your information is accurate and very timely.”
2) “It’s great to have a local show that covers all areas of Agriculture.”
3) “The show on Bale Grazing opened up many possibilities for my winter-feeding program.”
Kentucky Ag Matters podcast was selected as the State KACAA winner and as a National Finalist for NACAA for Audio Programs.
