The Four River Counties Regional Collaborative has been providing programs for Early Childhood Development for over 20 years. The Best Start Family Event was created to help reach and educate families that are planning, expecting, or have children under the age of two-years-old. In 2022 there was a Zoom session focusing on parenting, nutrition, and the importance of being kindergarten ready. This year was the first time it was conducted as an in-person event with a zoom option. Topics this year include health and nutrition for children ages birth-2, developmental milestones of children, and self-care for parents. All families reported feeling more confident in being able to see changes in their child when it comes to school readiness. 83% of families felt very confident in making nutritional choices for their family. 67% of families felt very confident in understanding the 6 protective factors of strengthening families and quality self-care. One family reported, “this is a wonderful program, even for a tenured parent. Things have changed and I learned something new.”
