Planning Unit: Lincoln County CES

Major Program: Leadership

Plan of Work: Life Skills Development 2020-24

Outcome: Initial Outcome

The purpose of the 4-H Cloverbud Program is to help youth ages 5-8 years of age learn life skills to become competent, caring and contributing citizens. The Lincoln County 4-H Cloverbud Club aims to help young people learn new things by hands-on involvement, develop a relationship with a caring adult or older youth helper, and learn about the general 4-H Youth Development program. With the help of volunteer teen leaders, the Lincoln County 4-H Cloverbud Club has grown to 12 active members who meet monthly and have participated in programs such as leadership, communications, leadership, natural resources, arts, and camping. Three of the members participated in 4-H speech and demonstration contests, practicing their public speaking skills even though they are too young to advance to area contests. At the conclusion of the 2022-2023 program year, a survey was conducted with parents. The results showed that 92% said their child had a better understanding of the 4-H program after participating in Clover Buds, and 100% had learned something new.
