Kentucky 4-H Communication and Expressive Arts Programs

Research shows a positive association between arts participation and a number of desirable academic and social outcomes, such as school grades, test scores, enrollment in post-secondary education, attainment of a bachelor’s degree, and higher levels of literacy and civic engagement. (Child Trends, 2013)
This year in Kentucky 4-H, 14,095 hours were contributed to bringing communication and expressive arts programming to 77,405 youth in Kentucky. Seven thousand five-hundred and thirty-two youth completed a drama, music, or dance project and 8873 completed a visual arts project. Finally, 11,898 completed a speech or demonstration.
