In April 2023 the Nutrition Education Program Assistant in Knott County collaborated with the Carr Creek Elementary Family Resource Coordinator to form a Community Baby Shower. Vendors were invited to set up to promote healthy pregnancies.
There were 12 vendors from around the area that came and sat up to hand out information to expectant moms and moms with children under 2.
The NEP Assistant had the opportunity to teach lessons they had not been able to teach in the past. Feeding your pregnant body and feeding your little body. The assistant gave out some useful information and a fillable pregnancy calendar. In total there was 30 women that came through the event.
The event was praised by the community and the participants were very appreciative and several of them made post on social media about how much fun they had and how helpful it was.
One participant said she had been waiting on the event for some time and was so excited when she got here to see all the helpful information and prizes that we had. When she came and picked up her prize after the event she hugged the assistant and was thankful for everything.
