Planning Unit: Garrard County CES
Major Program: Horticulture, Consumer and Home
Plan of Work: Valuing Natural Resources and Establishing Community Environmental Awareness
Outcome: Initial Outcome
The interest in home gardening programs continues to remain strong among homeowners. Growing your own food is not only fun but can provide the gardener with valuable food sources for the family. The Garrard County ANR agent conducted a series of gardening programs that led the participants from beginning gardening to more specific topics like growing perfect tomatoes and using straw bale gardening when soil types aren't good for gardening. One hundred percent of the participants indicated they increased their knowledge on gardening and especially growing tomatoes. The participants also indicated they would like to learn more about other vegetables grown in the garden. The ANR agent agreed to put another series together and add more specific vegetables to the lessons.
