BINGOCIZE® is a 10-week health promotion program that combines the game of bingo with fall prevention exercise. Come play bingo and meet new people while learning about techniques to reduce falls. There are several variations of this program including one that focused on Covid-19 awareness and prevention. This version is twice per week for 6 weeks. Boyle County participated in the Covid-19 version.
The FCS Agent offered Bingocize at the Arnold Tower location of the Housing Authority of Danville. This is a senior living facility with 65 apartments in the building. Residents must be 55 or older to live there. Each session had at least 7 people present. Most classes had over 10 attendees. Participants were active for most of the exercises although some were more flexible and had more skilled mobility than others.
Participants reported over the 6 week series an increase in flexibility and ease of mobility. Some participants were not as excited about the exercises as they were about the bingo prizes but they all reported enjoying the social aspects of the program. Wednesdays and Fridays became days to look forward to because of Bingocize.
