Small Appliances: What do You Want to Know?

Recently small electric counter top appliances have become the rage.  Especially the electric pressure cooker and the air fryer.  To answer the many questions owners or want to be owners have about these appliances the Knott County Family and Consumer Science agent offered “Small Appliances: What do You Want to Know?”.  Eighteen participants attended the program.  Pros and cons of both appliances were discussed and demonstrated.  Participants shared their personal experiences, asked questions and helped critique the appliances.  57% own an air fryer and 64% own an electric pressure cooker.  93% reported that after the program they were more aware of:  what features to look for when purchasing one of these appliances, the benefits of using a small appliance to prepare food and some of the challenges when using one of these appliances.  22% reported they plan to purchase one of these small appliances.  43% plan to use their small appliance to prepare more food at home.  86% plan to share the information they learned with others.  Several participants commented  “this class helped me realize I can use my electric pressure cooker and I am no longer afraid of it”.
