Plan of Work: Leadership Development

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

The Lego League partnership with West Perry Elementary School has been a wonderful experience and was a great success. When the coach at West Perry reached out to me about coaching alongside her I was very excited about the opportunity to work with the students on this semester long project. This was the team's second year participating in the LEGO League challenge. While they didn't place very highly in the competition last year, they all admitted to learning so much and were excited to return next year; that they did. Having even less experience than the students in this program, I wasn't even sure what scores were considered to be "good". After our teams first run, we were in first place, thinking that we would likely drop some once the rest of the teams got to complete their runs, well I was absolutely wrong. By the end of this fun and exciting day, our LEGO League team had finished in 2nd place in the robotics course and qualified to go to state. The amount of growth in both leadership and knowledge from our students throughout this semester was staggering and I could not be more proud of this group of kids.
