Residents of Carlisle County consistently identify addiction and substance abuse as areas of concern for the community. Research shows that in order for a recovery program to be successful, participants need access to recovery capital. The Department of Specialty Court in Carlisle County partnered with the Carlisle County Cooperative Extension Service to provide an educational component to the recovery program and build recovery capital for the participants.
Positive Employability provides participants with communication tools, essential soft skills, and best practices in professional etiquette to enhance employability. Participants reported improvements in communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal, increased awareness of soft skills and their importance, and increased confidence in their ability to navigate a professional setting.
