Support of Resonate Foods LLC and Delta Agriculture to the UK-REC while the Center rebuilds

Planning Unit: Entomology

Major Program: Tornado Response and Recovery

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

The University of Kentucky’s Research and Education Center at Princeton will soon start the rebuilding of its facilities after the total devastation caused by the tornado of December 10, 2021. Meanwhile, research and extension programs are waiting for temporary laboratories to return to full commitment work with our clientele. Operations at the entomology program, along with most programs, were totally interrupted due to the loss of laboratories, and infrastructure. A few days after this catastrophe, Mr. Anthony Schiavino (Resonate Foods LLC and Delta Agriculture Partners, Eddyville KY) offered his support to the Entomology Program by providing a high tunnel to be used as storage. Later, Mr. Schiavino and Resonate authorized me to use the facility for any studies. Electricity and water were available without any limitations starting in spring through early fall.  This help has been extended to other UKREC people such as Dr. Carl Bradley (Department of Plant pathology) for his soybean research program and Mr. Daniel Becker (Department of Horticulture) who is currently overwintering container-grown fruit trees. Their help has always been unconditional. Lastly, Delta Agriculture donated 1,000 hemp seedlings to the program for research purposes. We really appreciate and value Mr. Schiavino’s support during this difficult time, which has lessened the stress of an unexpected loss of large magnitude. The faculty of the UK-REC are being supported by different institutes, and it is important to highlight the support of Resonate Foods LLC to the entomology group that provide services to western Kentucky.
