On July 29th, 2022, Hart County Cooperative Extension partnered with the Hart County Cattlemen’s Association in hosting its 5th annual Farm to Table Dinner. This annual event has become such a sought after gathering that tickets are commonly sold out within 24-48 hours of being offered. It has been my honor over the past few years, even before being employed by Hart County Extension, to be heavily involved in the procurement of local fruits and vegetables for the dinner menu. This year over 200 people gathered at the fairgrounds to enjoy a meal prepared by the Hart County Cattlemen as well as other local vendors. Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Ryan Quarles spoke and gave an update on Agriculture in Kentucky, as well as an update from the Kentucky Farm Service Agency Director. Along with that, I presented a slide show showcasing the many farms in the county whose products were used to prepare the nights meal. The event had direct farm impact, valued at around $3000, to many Hart County Farm families as well as a few from surrounding counties. In addition, we were able to showcase the great products and product diversity that Hart County Farmers have to offer such as meats, fruits, and vegetables as well as the culinary talents of many people in the county.
