Outcome: Initial Outcome

FCS agent and Horticultural agent delivered a collaborative program on December 6th for the community. The 3 hour class held focus on greenery demos presented and provided by the Horticultural agent during the first portion of the class, followed by a transitional break to led into FCS portion of 2 homemade gifts in the kitchen demos (i.e. hot chocolate in a jar and christmas candy crunch). During demostration audience was engaged and provided feedback towards consideration of alternative food options to put in christmas candy crunch, creative layering toppings in place of chocoloate chips in the hot chocolate in the jar. The FCS agent provided guidance on how the recipe are applicable to the whole family to be involved and make. FCS broke down ingredients items and provided economical/cost considerations when purchasing items. FCS educated audience on elements of the demo that children could participate in. The program concluded with an opportunity for attendees to visit the ornament swap table and shop. Class had no fee but in lieu canned goods were brought in by attendees as donation to Food Pantry. 32 attendees were present at program. Over 85% of attendees verbalized to either FCS agent and Horticultural agent the vast amount of education that they gained from the class and that they really appreciated the offering of homemade gifts in the kitchen demos, that were kid friendly and kid safe. Over 85% expressed that they plan to make some of the greenery demos and homemade gifts from the kitchen in their own home. Finally over 90% expressed how they look forward to a class such as this next holiday season.
