Outcome: Initial Outcome
There are close to 300,000 veterans within the state of KY and around 600 that reside in Bath County. Resources for veterans are any where between 20 minutes to over an hour away, which for some might not be feasible to drive to. The Bath County Homemakers along with the Bath County Extension office and community volunteers, hosted a Veterans Day of Honor and Valor. At this event there were multiple different partners and resources from counties in the state that set up to help provide useful information and answer questions that local veterans had. In total 75 people attended and there were close to 20 vendors set up. One person in attendance mentioned that they were finally able to find the resource and information they had been looking for at the event, and they really appreciated the event being held, showing that this doesn't just have an immediate outcome but can offer long term outcomes for those that attend. The county judge executive gave opening remarks and the Family and Consumer Science agent said a few words. The homemakers prepared and served lunch for all that were in attendance and many local businesses and businesses in neighboring counties, donated door prizes for the event and many people won a wide variety of goodies.
This event is something the homemakers and extension office plan on hosting every year, taking notes each year to ensure that the next year is even better.
