"Safety is my Superpower!" This is what every 4th grader in Hart County learned at the Progressive Agriculture Farm Safety Day in October of 2022. The program is a partnership between the Extension Office and the school Family Resource Centers, and served 203 youth. Additional community partners include the FSA Office, Corp of Engineers, Hart County Search & Rescue, Barren Rescue Squad, FFA, Munfordville Fire Department, and the Hart County Cattlemen's Association.
Some of the safety skill areas taught were fire, livestock, farm machinery, atv safety, first aid, sun safety, water, sink hole & caves, lawn equipment, & grain bins.
Verbal surveys indicated that 100% of children learned at least one safety practice to use at their own farm or home.
The Hart County 4-H Program continuously seeks ways to better this educational program for the youth in Hart County.
