The Purchase Area Master Clothing Volunteers taught a series of Upcycling sewing classes this summer in Graves county and Calloway county.
The Junior 4-H Upcycling class in Graves County was a two day event were young 4-Her's ages 9 to 14 created three projects from denim. There were twelve youth, ten girls and two boys, that participated. This was a first time for the majority using a sewing machine. The Graves county 4-H sewing club gained two new members from this class and Calloway county 4-H sewing gained one new member.
The Denim Upcycling Bonanza that took place in Calloway County was a one day workshop that had seventeen adult participants. The made three items out of denim including a denim apron. From this class two participants that were from Marshall county plan to attend the adult sewing classes offered by Marshall County MCV's.
