Outcome: Initial Outcome

 According to the United States Census Bureau, 16.3% of Ohio County, Kentucky residents live in poverty. Research indicates that people who set goals are more financially successful. The Ohio County Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent collaborated with the Ohio County Library and WellCare to offer financial wellness series. The workshops focused on stretching food dollars, Meal planning, financial spending leaks, creating a family budgeting and financial goal setting to strengthen the well-being of individuals in Ohio County.

Data collected from this program reflects that 94% of participants learned to plan meals ahead of time and use a grocery list to guide food selections. A ninety-seven percent improvement was shown in food price comparison behavior. From the lessons, 98% realized they could have more money if they made different spending choices. Furthermore, 98% of participants learned how to reduce spending leaks, and 98% now plan on developing a savings plan.
