Plan of Work: Unrelated to a specified County Plan of Work
Outcome: Initial Outcome
On, September 23rd the Pendleton County 4-H had the 11th annual 4-H Country Ham auction and dinner. The 4-H country ham project has provided youth with an excellent education about the food industry. This project gives youth awareness of where their food comes from and how it is prepared for us to eat. Youth learn about and complete the curing process of a country ham. Along with this project they have to prepare a speech and be able to give the speech to complete strangers.
This year we had 20 youth participate in the Country Ham Project! This program was led by certified leaders, 4-H Council Members, and in conjunction with myself. The ham auction was a huge success for the youth in our county! Our youth helped that evening by serving food and drinks to all buyers, family members, and guest. During dinner we had each participant tell us about themselves and how this project benefited them. We also had our top state fair winners give a speech on their country ham project. We had a total of 82 guest and family members present to show the youth how important they are to the community.
