In August 2022, the Estill County Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Assistant met with the Estill County High School Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher regarding a partnership with the FCS Classroom for a Teen Cuisine Youth Program, the Estill County High School was happy to have the program added to there schedule. The Estill County Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Assistant started the 8-week program using the Teen Cuisine Youth Curriculum on September 22, 2022, with 14 youth participating and the potential for up to 20 youth to complete the first program. The Nutrition Education Assistant will provide lessons on food safety, proper measuring, knife skills, and healthy eating and living a healthy lifestyle. The Participants are all students ranging from 9th grade up to 12th grade, they are very engaged in the lesson and love cooking new things that may challenge them both in the kitchen and with their palate.
