Chris Teutsch, Jimmy Henning, and Ray Smith, University of Kentucky
In 2017, we established the KYForages YouTube Channel. The impact of this endeavor continues to grow. Our subscribers have almost tripled in the past four years to over 3,900. In this reporting period, content from this channel has been viewed more 160,000 times with an average watch time of just under 13 minutes resulting in a total watch time that exceeds 2 million minutes. The United States and Canada make up 76% of the total views with the remaining 24% coming from abroad. The use of this YouTube has extended the reach of the UK Forages Extension program by more than 10-fold. For example, approximately 120 individuals attended the Forages Symposium at the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Convention held in Lexington on January 14. However, the videos from this conference have been viewed more than 4,000 times. The reach of this high-quality program was expanded by more than 30 times, allowing individuals from around the country and world to benefit. The KYForages YouTube Channel can be found at http://www.youtube.com/c/KYForages.
