Major Program: Kentucky Extension Homemaker Association

Outcome: Intermediate Outcome

Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association Leadership Academy-This academy was held in March 2020 with 25 leaders, 6 committee members and 2 advisors attending.  This two-day workshop focused on leadership styles, parliamentary procedure, communication skills, understanding personalities and growth for the organization.  I served as an advisor to help lead and carry out this workshop and to facilitate the group over the next two years.   These participants had to return back home and develop a plan to complete in 12 months and complete at least 40 hours of volunteer hours.   This plan was delayed due to the virus and offices/meetings not occurring.  The 12 month plan was extended to be completed by June 1, 2022.   During this time we did two book clubs on leadership, met in person for those able to attend in June 2021 and continued to ask participants to complete their hours as they could.   We had 21 to turn in the payback form.   One quote from a participate "The 2020 KEHA Leadership Academy allowed me to understand and recognize leadership skills in myself and others. I received a better education about the Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association as well as items a leader needs to know such as personality types, parliamentary procedure, and ways to recruit and retain membership.  As a participant, I have grown as an individual and a leader and made new Homemaker friends across the state."

The state association of KEHA felt this was an important part of their future and funds have been secured to host the second session in March 2023.  I will be on the planning committee to help develop and oversee this process for 2023.
