Regional Farmers Market Meeting

Outcome: Initial Outcome

The Regional Farmers Market Meeting was held in April and hosted in Rowan County. The FCS agent and ANR agent worked together to provide food, a meeting place, and collect funds for the meeting. This meeting consisted of 7 counties including Elliot, Bath, Fleming, Carter, Morgan, Lewis, Menifee, and Rowan county. 

Those that attended the meeting were able to participate in educational presentations put on by both UK Specialists and those within the community. They also were given different items that would allow them to better utilize fresh produce and other products that were locally sourced. Those who participate in KY Proud, were also able to buy/pickup orders that could be utilized on farmers markets or just selling their products when they are able to. 

The agents the attended as representatives of their county, all agreed that this was a successful event and that Rowan County did a good job of hosting the event. Those who attended from various farmers market were pleased with the food, presenters, and the free items they were able to take with them. Many stated they would be utilizing the information they received while attending this meeting.
