4-H Teen Club members place stickers on beer cases with informational messageFor years many in local agencies and organizations have partnered together to combat substance abuse and mental health. The Champions Coalition for a Drug Free Lyon County has partnered with 4-H Youth Development multiple times during the program year. The largest project that was presented this year was the TATU program, TATU stands for teens, against, tobacco use. During the TATU program Lyon County 4-H Teen Club members presented important messages about tobacco to all the 4th and 5th grade students in Lyon County. The teen club members shared messages regarding the marketing of vapes, ingredients of tobacco products, chew tobacco, statistics of tobacco related health issues, and effects of quitting tobacco products. The program was sponsored by the Champions Coalition, ASAP grant money, and Lyon County 4-H. Every student that was a part of the program received a TATU t-shirt that had a tobacco free message. A representative from Lyon County Health Department attended the program and answered questions about vaping and persuaded students to encourage their families to not use tobacco products. During the TATU program 142 youth was presented a program regarding tobacco use and 12 teens presented that program.

Sticker Shock is an additional program that is a partnership between Lyon County 4-H and the Champions Coalition. The purpose of the Sticker Shock program is to discourage purchase of alcohol for underage youth. Members of the 4-H teen club was escorted by local police, school sponsors and Champions members to local liquor stores and businesses. During the program teens placed stickers on beer cases that had information on it about purchasing alcohol for people that are underage and the consequences. Over 500 stickers were placed on beer cases the weekend before Labor Day to spread an informational message.

Right before the local school system was out for summer break a few 4-H Teen Club members partnered with the Champions for A Drug Free Lyon County and the Pennyroyal Center to create a public service announcement about vaping. The teens designed the theme for the commercial around the positive effects of not using vapes. This commercial will be shared with the local television stations and has already been viewed over a couple hundred times on social media platforms.Public Service Announcement created by teen club members
