Major Program: Grains

Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

The Kentucky Agriculture Training School had a 2-day Drone Pilot Certification Workshop scheduled for Dec 20-21, 2021 at UKREC in Princeton, KY.  This training took extensive planning to coordinate.  The instructor, Mandy Briggs,  was scheduled to travel from Illinois, ordering and printing materials was completed, and I was in direct contact with each participant to guide them in scheduling their testing time and place that would follow the class, and also helped coordinate hotel reservations for those attending from out of town.  On Friday, December 10, UKREC was destroyed by the historical tornado. This left us without the prepared materials as well as a place to hold the class.  The following Monday, I began to work on finding an alternate classroom and contacted all the registered participants to see how many would still be able to attend.  I was able secure the Caldwell County Extension Office for the class and 13 of the 15 participants stated they would still be able to attend.  I reordered books and reprinted the 1000+ pages of material at the extension office.  10 days following the UKREC destruction, we still were able to hold the successful training.   The training continued to be highly requested and we were able to repeat it in March and again in June.  All of the attendees felt the class was extremely beneficial and fundamental in passing the exam.
