When I began this position last August, I knew that I wanted to start the most successful shooting sports program in eastern Kentucky. With with help of some incredible community members and volunteers I believe we are on our way to doing just that. When we began recruiting at the start of February, we were hoping that we would be able to keep a good core of kids and maintain attendance around 10-15. With the help of Chris Woods and Chris Fugate, our program has exploded in the county and we are seeing 40 kids attending our weekend programs.
As I mentioned, Chris Fugate, a local representative and pastor, has been very vital to our programs initial success. He has been very vocal about his support and we cannot thank him enough. Along with his vocal support, his church has provided lunch to our students at every meeting, allowing us to better serve our local youth and provide them with as many resources as we can.
