Planning Unit: Oldham County CES

Major Program: Making Healthy Lifestyle Choices (general)

Plan of Work: Promoting Healthy Lifestyles

Outcome: Long-Term Outcome

Oldham County is rated as being one of the healthiest in the state.  Vegetarian cooking emerged from a survey of residents interest.  The FCS Agent presentation explained the health advantages and possible problems in following a vegetarian or vegan diet. Several economical recipes were demonstrated and offered for sampling. Results from written surveys at the conclusion of the program indicated that all participants had a greater understanding of vegetarian diets.  Several participants planned to serve at least one vegetarian meal a week.  Ten participants indicated that they could save ten or more dollars a week with their food budget if they prepared one or more vegetarian meals.
